I'm Also Here to Learn..
I was going to spend this entry talking about a favorite class, but I realized that I have two! They are Global Violence Against Women and Girls, and Non-profits, Political Activism, and Civic Engagement. I know, I know, the first one sounds utterly morbid. It's actually extremely informative, and instead of focusing on all of the negatives, it gives us the tools we need in order to make a difference. The class is held once a week in the Women's Center, in a great room full of comfortable couches. Since it's a small class, it's based on participation-which is awesome! The other is a service-learning class, which means that our class is supplemented by an internship of our choice. I decided to volunteer at Women Helping Battered Women, and it's so cool to not only be able to see the ins and outs of a nonprofit, but to also be able to learn why it is the way it is at the same time. I was also able to combine my Women's and Gender Studies major with my Sociology major-and get credit for it! This semester is definitely my favorite so far.
